ETHEREUM / A MULTI-PROVIDER RESEARCH CASE STUDY

Understanding
Glamsterdam.

Glamsterdam aims to give Ethereum more capacity.
Costs and compatibility change along the way.

Glamsterdam is a planned upgrade to Ethereum’s protocol. Understand its expected benefits, the preparation required and the questions still open. Then explore how two AI research workflows used four evidence providers before Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code combined their findings.

Evidence snapshot · 30 September 2026Research describes a pre-mainnet upgrade. Dates and specifications may change.

START HERE

More capacity comes with changes to costs and compatibility.

Three themes from the synthesis. Follow each one into the evidence and its limits.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU

Preparation depends on your role.

Ethereum proposals describe protocol changes. Their practical effects depend on the software and services you use.

Using ETH or applications

You do not need to convert or “upgrade” ETH. Different transaction paths may get different gas estimates. Lower fees and faster transactions are not guaranteed.

Building applications or wallets

Review fixed gas assumptions, deployment costs and gas estimation. New logs and larger contract limits require tooling support before users benefit.

Running nodes or validators

Both execution and consensus clients need coordinated upgrades. Block-building duties, monitoring and checkpoint practices also need attention.

Read the operator implications →

Building or using rollups

Rollups process transactions on a separate network and rely on Ethereum for settlement. Mainnet changes do not automatically change their execution rules. Adoption and user-facing effects depend on each rollup’s own migration.

WHAT REMAINS OPEN

Specifications describe intended behavior. Real-world results still need evidence.

At the research snapshot, mainnet had no confirmed activation date. The reports also leave questions about final gas constants, client readiness and realized fee or throughput gains. This is a dated account of an upcoming upgrade, not a live status page.

THE METHOD BEHIND THE GUIDE

Two models interpreted the evidence.
A third synthesized their reports.

This case study puts Choose your AI. Choose how it searches. into practice. The recorded runs show complementary evidence, recovery from incomplete retrievals, and overlap. They do not establish that four providers were necessary.

Explore the synthesis and the evidence behind it.

The complete synthesis keeps its citations, evidence labels and unresolved questions. The original reports are available alongside it.
